Kolkata: East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon expressed confidence ahead of the team's most crucial match in 22 years, which could bring them their first Indian Super League title.

The equation for the current toppers is simple: a win against debutants Inter Kashi on Thursday would secure their first title since the 2003-04 National Football League.

However, other teams in contention, including Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Punjab FC, and Mumbai City FC, still have a chance to win the ₹1.25 crore top prize if East Bengal drops points on the final day.

Defending champions Mohun Bagan can get to East Bengal's possible maximum of 26 points if they beat Sporting Club Delhi, but East Bengal have a superior goal difference of +5 going into the 13th round.

Goals scored will be considered if the Kolkata derby ended 1-1, and East Bengal lead with 28 goals to Bagan's 21.

Either Punjab FC or Mumbai City FC can get to 25 points and become champions if the Kolkata teams draw or lose, while Jamshedpur FC can get to 24 points and win the title if Punjab-Mumbai ends in a draw and both Kolkata clubs lose.
