In a lopsided matchup, Fresno State's defense stifled Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, securing an 18-3 victory at the Arizona Bowl. E.J. Warner, son of NFL legend Kurt Warner, led the offense with 214 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 16 of 23 attempts without a turnover. The Bulldogs' defense, ranked 14th in the nation with just 293.4 yards surrendered per game, limited the RedHawks to a mere 192 total yards. Miami's freshman quarterback Thomas Gotkowski struggled, completing just 6 of 22 passes for 72 yards, including an interception. Fresno State's Josiah Freeman caught 7 passes for 143 yards, while Richie Anderson III scored the game's lone touchdown with a 2-yard reception from Warner in the fourth quarter. Dylan Lynch sealed the win with a 4th field goal, extending the lead to 18-3 with 2:56 left in the game. The RedHawks, defending Arizona Bowl champions, were unable to muster a significant challenge, despite a strong start from Keith Reynolds, who had a 32-yard run on Miami's second play. Miami's ground attack was also stifled, with Jordan Brunson held to 43 yards on 9 carries. Fresno State's victory earned first-year coach Matt Entz a $45,000 bonus, in addition to the $110,000 he had already received for the team's success this season.
