New Delhi, India's national women's hockey squad has been announced for the upcoming tour of Argentina, featuring the return of drag-flicker Deepika and experienced goalkeeper Savita.
The 24-member squad includes Salima Tete as captain, along with defender Jyoti and forward Mumtaz Khan, strengthening both ends of the field.
India will play four matches against Argentina from April 13 to 17 in Buenos Aires, a key exposure tour ahead of the World Cup and the Asian Games later this year.
Head coach Sjoerd Marijne stated that the tour is crucial in testing combinations and building squad depth.
Deepika's return adds depth and experience to the attack, while Savita's comeback will bolster the defence against a strong Argentine attack.
The squad includes Goalkeepers Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam, defenders Nikki Pradhan, Ishika Chaudhary, and midfielders Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke and Sakshi Rana.
