IOA & CONI Unite: A New Era of Sports Cooperation Between India & Italy

New Delhi: In a significant move to boost bilateral sports cooperation, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). The agreement aims to foster collaboration on joint training camps, coaching exchanges, sports science programs, and development pathways for emerging athletes. The MoU, signed in the presence of Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, IOA President PT Usha, and CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio, aims to enhance India's global sporting performance. IOA President PT Usha said, "This partnership with CONI will provide our athletes with opportunities to train, learn, and excel within one of the world's most respected sporting systems." The exchange of knowledge, expertise, and access to elite infrastructure will play a crucial role in elevating India's global sporting performance. The initiative comes at a crucial moment for India, as the country prepares to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and has expressed interest in staging the 2036 Olympics. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the government's commitment to supporting international collaborations that uplift Indian sports, stating, "Access to world-class facilities and joint training programs will significantly strengthen our athletes' preparation for future Olympic cycles.
