New Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham has arrived in Florida, but he won't be calling the shots in the Citrus Bowl against Texas. Instead, his top priority is to win over players who might bolt to the transfer portal after the game. 'College football is all about the players,' Whittingham said. 'If you've got good players, you've got a chance.' Whittingham's first challenge is convincing quarterback Bryce Underwood to stay in Ann Arbor. The 18-year-old freshman is undecided about his future with the team. Whittingham believes his incoming offense is tailor-made for Underwood, who was a top recruit in the Class of 2025. 'He's got the "it" factor,' Whittingham said. 'I think he's going to excel and have a great experience here.' Whittingham, 66, was hired last week to take over at Michigan, signing a five-year contract after Sherrone Moore was let go. He's a seasoned coach with a 177-88 record at Utah, but Michigan was a job he couldn't turn down. 'There's nobody above the team,' Whittingham said. 'We've got to get everyone on the same page and lead this team together.'
