New Delhi: Manpreet Singh, a two-time Olympic bronze medallist, has made a triumphant return to the Indian hockey team after being dropped from the national camp in January.
Manpreet, 33, was rested for disciplinary reasons following an incident during the tour of South Africa in December 2025, but he has since improved his chances of returning to the team.
Representing India has always been the biggest thing for Manpreet, who last played for the country in December 2025. He expressed his eagerness to do his best for his team, country, family, and said it felt great to be back.
Manpreet credited his conversations with mental health expert Paddy Upton and his family for helping him overcome the difficult period. He also maintained his fitness levels by running every day in his village, going to the gym twice a day, and following a strict diet.
Manpreet made it clear that he wants to continue playing till the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and has set his sights on winning the World Cup and Asian Games before then.
India next play the two final legs of the Pro League in Rotterdam and London next month.
