Micah Parsons, the Green Bay Packers' pass rusher, is set to lead the team in the 2026-27 NFL season. Former defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, now the Miami Dolphins' head coach, has made a bold prediction that Parsons will return from his torn ACL even better and break the sack record next year.
Hafley, who worked with Parsons at the Packers, said he would bet that Parsons comes back even better and breaks the sack record next year. The current NFL single-season sack record stands at 23, set by Myles Garrett in 2025.
Parsons tore his left ACL in Week 15 of the 2025 season and had 12.5 sacks, 26 quarterback hits, and 41 tackles across 15 appearances. His rehab is progressing ahead of the typical nine- to 12-month ACL recovery window, but some outlets suggest he could miss the first three to four games of 2026.
Parsons has expressed hope of being ready for the 2026 opener and acknowledged that he is realistically hoping to return as early as Week 3. The Packers have not announced a firm target date for his return.
