The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) tournament in Goa will not feature Pakistan's women's football team as participants due to a lack of permission to play in India.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) stated that the team had not been issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) by the relevant authorities.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from May 25 to June 7, will be held at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao, India.

The exclusion comes amid strained relations between India and Pakistan following a short war in May last year and a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed Indian tourists.

The SAFF Women's Championship will feature Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, and defending champions Bangladesh.

India has won the event a record five times, and the championship is a biennial event that was first held in 2010.
