Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu's campaign at the Malaysia Open Super 1000 came to an end on Saturday as she fell to China's Wang Zhiyi in the women's singles semifinals. The two-time Olympic medalist struggled with unforced errors, ultimately succumbing to a 16-21, 15-21 defeat. Sindhu, competing in her first tournament after a foot injury hiatus, started strong but ultimately couldn't sustain the pressure against the world number two. Despite taking an 11-6 lead in the second game, Sindhu faltered late on, letting Wang level and then take control. In the first game, Sindhu's trademark cross-court smashes gave her an early 9-7 lead, but Wang's clever touch and relentless attacking shots allowed her to pull ahead. The second game saw Sindhu slip to 1-3 before regrouping, only to eventually succumb to Wang's pressure. Wang's well-judged lifts and sharp net shots proved too much for Sindhu, who sprayed shots wide and into the net, ultimately gifting her opponent five match points. The contest ended with Sindhu pushing a shot wide, securing Wang's place in the final and bringing an end to India's campaign in the tournament.
