The QB remains the face of the franchise after throwing for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns and just eight interceptions while completing 65% of his passes last year. However, with retirement speculation surrounding the veteran quarterback for multiple seasons, Rams leadership appears to have decided it was time to proactively prepare for life beyond their Super Bowl-winning star.
General manager Les Snead made clear that the move was part of a larger organizational strategy, and that the Rams are still fully committed to winning with Stafford in the present, even while planning for the future.
However, some have questioned whether the Rams' extensive public messaging around Stafford suggests deeper concern, and whether the team's draft strategy could shape how aggressively they pursue immediate roster upgrades, such as pursuing Eagles star AJ Brown.
