New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis expressed high praise for quarterback Tyler Shough, who impressed in his rookie season despite playing for a team plagued by injuries. Shough, drafted 40th overall, won five of his nine starts and is now a top candidate to be the Saints' starter next season. Loomis' comments suggest that the Saints may not prioritize drafting a quarterback with their eighth overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Instead, they will focus on selecting the best player available who can make an immediate impact on the team. As for the futures of veterans Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, and Taysom Hill, Loomis remained noncommittal. While the Saints are open to keeping the players, they will need to consider various factors, including contract negotiations and individual player preferences. Jordan and Davis, both 36, have indicated that they intend to continue playing and prefer to stay in New Orleans. They were productive this season, with Jordan leading the team in sacks and Davis recording a career-high 143 tackles. Hill, 35, is uncertain about his future and may not want to continue playing. His leadership was praised by coach Kellen Moore, who noted that Hill helped guide the younger quarterbacks on the team. Moore, the NFL's youngest coach at 37, had a difficult start to the season but finished with a modest improvement, winning one more game than in 2024. Loomis commended Moore for handling challenging situations well and expressed excitement about the coach's future with the team.
