Mikaela Shiffrin is on a roll, extending her World Cup slalom victory streak to an unprecedented 105 wins. The American skiing sensation claimed her record-breaking 105th title at a night race in Courchevel, France, leaving her closest competitors in the dust. Shiffrin's impressive margin of victory averaged 1.5025 seconds, with a staggering 1.55 seconds separating her from Swiss skier Camille Rast and 1.71 seconds from German racer Emma Aicher. This season, she has won all four slaloms, including the final race of last season, and five straight overall. The night race saw several top contenders crash out, including German skier Lena Duerr and defending World Cup slalom champion Zrinka Ljutic. Italian-born skier Lara Colturi also struggled, straddling a gate in her opening run. Meanwhile, Swiss skier Wendy Holdener managed a remarkable seventh-place finish despite a painful mishap at the finish area. Shiffrin's dominance has earned her 68th World Cup slalom win, with her sights set on the Olympics. Women's Alpine skiing at the Feb. 6-22 Olympics will be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, where Shiffrin has had success in the past. The event will be a crucial test for the American skier, who will be competing against the likes of Lindsey Vonn, who holds the record of 12 World Cup victories in slalom. As the Olympic season heats up, Shiffrin is leading the overall standings with 558 points, followed closely by Alice Robinson, Camille Rast, and Emma Aicher. With her record-breaking victory, Shiffrin is sending a clear message to the competition: she's the one to beat in slalom.
