The Vegas Golden Knights suffered a significant blow to their lineup as goalie Carter Hart will be out for at least a week due to a lower-body injury. According to coach Bruce Cassidy, Hart was injured in the first period of Thursday's 5-3 victory over Columbus. In his absence, Akira Schmid will take the reins against the St. Louis Blues, boasting a 2.51 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage. To further bolster their goaltending, the Golden Knights have called up Carl Lindbom from their American Hockey League affiliate. Lindbom, who has made seven starts this season, has shown promise with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in the AHL. Coach Cassidy expressed confidence in both Schmid and Lindbom, praising their respective performances. However, the team's top two goalies are now sidelined, with Adin Hill also nursing a lower-body injury. Hill, who led the Golden Knights to a Stanley Cup title three years ago, is expected to return to practice on Tuesday. The Golden Knights had high hopes for Hart, who signed a two-year, $4 million contract in October after being acquitted of a 2018 Canada world junior hockey team scandal. His first NHL game in nearly two years was a 4-3 victory over Chicago on December 2.
