The 59th Engineers’ Day was celebrated at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala on Tuesday, highlighting the crucial role of engineers in building modern infrastructure and supporting the development of Tripura and the country.
The programme was jointly organized by the Public Works Department (PWD) and The Institution of Engineers (India). Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the event along with Kiran Gittee and office-bearers of the Engineers’ Association.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of engineers in strengthening infrastructure, promoting innovation and contributing to the state’s overall development. He said that the knowledge, dedication and technical expertise of engineers are essential for creating a strong, self-reliant and developed Tripura.
Engineers have played a significant role in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, public buildings, communication networks and other essential infrastructure across the state. Their contribution is also increasingly important in adopting modern technologies and sustainable solutions for future development.
The Engineers’ Day programme provided an opportunity to recognize the professional contributions of engineers and encourage them to continue working towards innovation and public welfare. The participation of representatives from the engineering community also reflected the importance of cooperation between government departments and professional institutions in achieving development goals.
The celebration concluded with an emphasis on strengthening engineering capabilities and using technical expertise to accelerate Tripura’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive development.
