Newly released images have reignited questions about former US President Bill Clinton's association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Despite the photographs not implicating Clinton in Epstein's crimes, the former president's friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell has come under renewed scrutiny. According to a statement from Clinton's spokesman, Angel Ureña, the White House released the photos to deflect attention from their own actions. Ureña emphasized that Clinton's relationship with Epstein ended long before the sex offender's arrest in 2019. Clinton has acknowledged his association with Epstein in the past, but denied any knowledge of his crimes. The former president and Epstein were part of the same social circle in the 1990s and early 2000s, alongside other high-profile figures like Donald Trump. In the early 2000s, Clinton described Epstein as a 'highly successful financier and committed philanthropist,' reflecting the elite's perception of Epstein at the time. Clinton took four flights on Epstein's private jet between 2002 and 2003, which included stops related to the Clinton Foundation's work in Africa. Clinton has consistently stated that his relationship with Epstein ended before the sex offender's arrest. In a 2019 statement, Clinton's spokesperson confirmed that the former president had not spoken to Epstein in over a decade. Writing in his memoir, Clinton expressed his lack of knowledge about Epstein's crimes, stating that he had stopped contact with Epstein by the time the sex offender was first arrested in 2005. The release of the new photos has sparked renewed questions about Clinton's past association with Epstein, but the former president's spokesman remains firm in their defense.
