BMW Driver Charged After Fatal Crash Kills Pregnant Indian Woman in Sydney

A devastating car crash in Australia's Sydney has claimed the life of an eight-month pregnant woman of Indian origin. Samanvitha Dhareshwar, 33, was fatally hit by a BMW sedan on November 14 in the Hornsby suburb. According to reports, a Kia Carnival slowed down to let Dhareshwar and her family cross a footpath outside a carpark on George St when a BMW sedan driven by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu collided with the Kia, causing it to move forward and strike Dhareshwar. The pregnant woman was rushed to Westmead Hospital, where she and her unborn baby later succumbed to their injuries. Papazoglu, who holds a provisional driving license, was arrested on Saturday morning and faces charges of dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and causing the loss of a fetus. Dhareshwar, an IT professional originally from Karnataka, was living in Sydney with her husband Vineet, who works in the tech industry. The couple had purchased land in Grantham Farm and had submitted plans for a two-storey house. Assistant Commissioner David Driver described the crash scene as 'very confronting' for first responders. Emergency services responded to the incident shortly after 8 pm, and paramedics treated Dhareshwar at the scene before taking her to the hospital. In a statement, police said the driver of the BMW and the Kia Carnival were not injured in the crash. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
