A devastating mass shooting on Bondi Beach in Australia left 15 people dead and over a dozen injured. The attack, carried out by a father-son duo, was meticulously planned, according to chilling CCTV footage. Naveed Akram, 24, and his 50-year-old father Sajid, a dual national, have been charged with terrorism and 15 counts of murder. While Sajid was killed in an exchange of fire with police, Naveed survived and is currently undergoing treatment.
The pair's reconnaissance and planning was evident in the CCTV footage, which showed them parking near a footbridge two days before the attack. They had also booked a room at an Airbnb in southwestern Sydney, where they were seen loading weapons into a car registered to Naveed. The cache included shotguns, rifles, and explosives, along with Islamic State flags. On the night of the attack, they left their accommodation, drove to Bondi Beach, and parked near the footbridge, before taking the weapons and opening fire on the crowd.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has apologized to the Jewish community, expressing his 'weight of responsibility' for the atrocity. The incident has sent shockwaves across the nation, with investigators working to unravel the motivations behind the attack.
