In a major crackdown, Canada's immigration authorities have deported three individuals linked to an extortion ring targeting South Asian businesses in British Columbia. The move comes as part of a joint effort with the province's new extortion task force, which was established in September to investigate a surge in violent crimes, including shootings and threats, against business owners. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police-led task force, comprising 40 members, is working to disrupt organized transnational criminal groups. Immigration investigations have been initiated into 78 foreign nationals suspected of being inadmissible, with three already removed from the country. "We will not tolerate violent extortion that terrorizes our communities," said Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Nina Krieger. "Those found to be involved will be arrested, charged, and if necessary, removed from Canada.
