Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the country will restart trade talks with the United States when the time is suitable, rather than immediately. The talks were halted last month after an ad criticizing US tariffs sparked a backlash from US President Donald Trump. According to Carney, who spoke at the G20 summit in Johannesburg, Canada is currently focused on building its future and strengthening new partnerships. He emphasized that a conversation with President Trump will likely occur within the next couple of weeks, but only when it is mutually beneficial. "We are very busy with the future of Canada, and with new partnerships," Carney said. "There will be conversations with the president, probably in the next two weeks. We will re-engage when it's appropriate.
