The Canton Police Department reported that the shooting occurred at 6:40 p.m. at Lamplighter Village, located at the intersection of Turnpike Street and Stagecoach Road. The victim, a woman in her 20s, was shot inside a car and has been transported to a medical facility with serious injuries. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with residents in nearby areas asked to shelter in place due to a city-wide manhunt. Police are on the lookout for a suspect described as a Black male, approximately 5'5" to 5'6" tall, with a skinny build and clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a black beanie hat. Authorities believe the suspect may be armed and considered dangerous. According to police, the shooting occurred during a transaction involving the victim, the suspect, and a third passenger. The suspect allegedly shot the victim after the transaction went awry and fled on foot. The passenger in the car remained unharmed. Residents in the area are advised to avoid Turnpike Street, which connects to Washington Street in Stoughton, until further notice. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
