A 26-year-old woman, Bethany MaGee, is fighting for her life after a horrific attack on a Chicago metro train. A friend described her as 'very gentle' and 'incredibly smart,' a testament to her kind nature. Originally from Upland, Indiana, MaGee's family is reeling from the tragedy. Neighbors have expressed their support, sharing that the family is going through a difficult time and is seeking privacy. The attack occurred when Lawrence Reed allegedly doused MaGee with a flammable liquid and set her on fire. Surveillance footage shows Reed chasing her after she tried to escape. Despite suffering severe burns, MaGee managed to exit the train and collapsed on the platform. She remains in critical condition. Lawrence Reed has a troubled past with 22 prior arrests and 53 criminal cases in Cook County, including nine felony convictions. However, he was released on a felony charge in August for allegedly assaulting a social worker. Reed now faces federal terrorism charges in connection with the attack on Bethany MaGee.
