A specialist medical team from China has arrived in Dhaka to join the efforts to treat former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who remains in a highly critical condition at a private hospital. The 80-year-old BNP chairperson was admitted on November 23 with heart and lung infections, and her condition has continued to worsen. In response to Zia's critical condition, the Bangladeshi government has declared her a 'very, very important person', allowing the deployment of the Special Security Force (SSF) to provide her protection. The hospital has been placed under heightened security, with nearly two dozen personnel deployed to regulate patient movement and reinforce her security. The Chinese medical team held a meeting with the hospital's medical board to discuss Zia's treatment, with further expert opinions needed to determine the best course of action. Another team of Chinese specialists is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep concern over Zia's health and offered all possible support. Local BNP units and supporters are holding prayers for her recovery, with many taking to social media to post messages wishing her a swift recovery. Zia's son, Tarique Rahman, who has been living in self-exile in London, is expected to return to Bangladesh soon, according to party sources.
