As Christmas Day approaches, many businesses are adjusting their schedules. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will close early on December 24 at 1 p.m. ET and remain shut on December 25. Bond markets will follow suit, closing at 2 p.m. ET on Christmas Eve and staying closed on December 25. In a nod to the federal holiday, some banks will be closed on December 25, including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and JPMorgan Chase. However, specific branches may close early on Christmas Eve, so it's essential to verify local branch timings to avoid any delays in transactions. On the other hand, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will deliver regular mail on Christmas Eve, and post offices will be open with varying hours by location. However, post offices will be closed on December 25, and regular mail will not be delivered. Some Priority Mail Express deliveries might still occur on Christmas Day despite office closures. Private carriers like FedEx and UPS will also have early closures and limited pickups on Christmas Eve, with most services suspended on December 25. The stock market will return to normal hours on Friday, December 26, and banks will resume their regular operations on December 26 as well. It's worth noting that January 1, 2026, is listed as an official federal holiday for banks, and both the stock market and banks will be closed on this day as well.
