Columbus Couple's Grisly Murder Sparks Manhunt: Expert Weighs in on Possible Motive
An Ohio-based dentist, Spencer Tepe, and his wife, Monique Tepe, were found dead after a welfare check at their home in the 1400 block of N. 4th Street
A tragic double homicide has shaken Columbus, Ohio, after a welfare check at a home in the 1400 block of N. 4th Street revealed the lifeless bodies of 37-year-old dentist Spencer Tepe and his 39-year-old wife, Monique. The couple's two children, aged approximately 4 and 6, were found unharmed inside the residence. Police have launched a thorough investigation, but the killer remains on the loose.
The gruesome discovery was made around 10 AM on December 30 after Spencer's coworker reported that he had failed to show up for work at a dental clinic in Athens. A second 911 call was made when a colleague arrived at the residence and heard the children inside. A friend managed to enter the house, where they found Spencer's body.
As the search for the suspect continues, investigators are seeking any video or photographic evidence from the surrounding neighborhood between midnight and 9 AM on December 30. CNN Senior National Security Analyst Juliette Kayyem believes that the lack of a firearm at the scene and the fact that the children were left unharmed suggest that the couple may have been 'targeted.' Kayyem hypothesizes that there may be two possible scenarios: either a random attack by a stranger or a premeditated act driven by a personal motive.
The Tepe family has released a statement expressing their sadness and commitment to seeing justice served. 'We are heartbroken beyond words,' the statement reads. 'Spencer and Monique shared a beautiful, strong, and deeply happy relationship. They loved to travel, to laugh, and to build a life rooted in love.'
