A devastating mass shooting in Chicago's River North neighborhood has claimed one life and left three others fighting for theirs. The incident unfolded around 2:35 am on Sunday when four individuals were attempting to enter a vehicle. Unbeknownst to them, four men approached and opened fire, striking four people in the process, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The 34-year-old victim who succumbed to his injuries at Northwestern Hospital suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities are still searching for answers as the gunmen fled the scene in a green Porsche after the shooting on North La Salle Drive.
Three other victims, aged 35, 36, and 43, are receiving medical care at the same hospital after being shot in the chest, back, and multiple times, respectively. Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the shooting.
Cook County Crime Stoppers' Executive Director, Paul Rutherford, condemned the violent act, urging anyone with information to come forward, 'Someone knows who is responsible. Your information, no matter how small it may seem, could be the key to bringing justice to the victims and their families.'
As investigators focus on tracking down the suspects, they have identified a green Porsche as a key piece of evidence, which was circled by evidence markers at the scene. The police are urging anyone with information to contact them and help bring an end to this senseless violence.
