Israel's Mossad intelligence agency has uncovered evidence that Hamas has been secretly establishing a network of covert cells across Europe to plan and prepare for attacks. According to the agency, these cells have been coordinating activities and stockpiling weapons in multiple countries, including Germany and Austria. Security services in Europe have been working closely with Mossad to disrupt these plots and apprehend suspects. In one notable case, Austrian authorities discovered a stash of handguns and explosive materials in Vienna last September, linking it to Mohammad Naim, the son of a senior Hamas leader. Mossad has accused Hamas leadership abroad, particularly in Qatar, of supporting these activities and publicly denying involvement to maintain the group's international image. The agency warned that repeated denials might signal a loss of control by the leadership over rogue operatives. Investigations are also underway in Turkey, where individuals linked to Hamas have been operating. German authorities recently arrested Burhan al-Khatib, who was previously active in Turkey before moving to mainland Europe. The Mossad claims that Hamas has accelerated its foreign operations since the October 7 attack on Israel, attempting to strengthen its clandestine networks abroad using methods similar to those employed by Iran and its allies. The agency is working to disrupt dozens of attack plots worldwide and protect Israeli and Jewish communities globally.
