Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's daughter, Hope, has delivered a scathing response to Donald Trump Jr. after he defended his father's use of an ableist term. In a TikTok video, the 24-year-old expressed her sadness over Trump Jr.'s apparent lack of compassion and empathy. The exchange began when President Trump used an ableist slur to describe Governor Walz, a 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee, on Truth Social. Last week, Trump Jr. posted a video of Governor Walz stating that individuals have been shouting the slur outside his residence, with the caption 'They're not wrong.' Hope Walz fired back at Trump Jr., stating that his father's actions suggest a lack of love and compassion. 'If there is any love there, it's not for your compassion, but instead your cruelty, and that's not love,' she said. She also expressed her sadness over the Trump family's tendency to 'degrade and put down large swaths of the country' to make themselves feel better. In a bold statement, Hope Walz said, 'My family and I will always be richer than yours, always because we don't find joy in this. We find joy in each other and spending time together and doing quality good things for this world together, not tearing other people down.' She urged Trump Jr. to seek help for his 'daddy issues,' stating that 'those daddy issues are so, so clear, and I genuinely do feel sad for you.' Hope Walz ended her message with a message of good luck to Trump Jr. and a reminder that 'joy and love and happiness with my family, because at the end of the day, that's what matters.'
