A Hennepin County, Minnesota prosecutor's office has confirmed it has the authority to bring criminal charges against the ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. The incident occurred when Good allegedly struck the agent with her vehicle, prompting him to open fire. According to Daniel Borgertpoepping, a spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, a decision on prosecuting the ICE agent will be made after the investigation is complete. "We have jurisdiction to bring charges, as do the feds, but the investigation remains active and there is no timeline for its conclusion," Borgertpoepping said. The incident has sparked controversy, with the Department of Homeland Security and President Donald Trump claiming Good was shot in self-defense. Trump described Good as "viciously" running over the ICE officer, while Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated Good was "stalking and impeding" federal law enforcement. However, Good's mother, Donna Ganger, has a different account of her daughter's character. "She was one of the kindest people I've ever known, extremely compassionate and loving," Ganger said. The investigation into Good's death remains ongoing, with the Hennepin County Attorney's Office poised to make a decision on charges once the probe is complete.
