Indian President Droupadi Murmu has highlighted the immense opportunities for trade, investment, and people-to-people relations between India and Angola during a visit to the African nation. Speaking to the local Indian community, Murmu called on them to take an active role in strengthening these ties, which she described as a vital part of India's energy security and Angola's economic growth. With an estimated 8,000 Indians living and working in the country, the community is diverse and engaged in various sectors, including retail, tourism, and energy. Murmu praised the Indian diaspora as a 'bridge' between the two nations, citing the significant contributions of Indian companies to Angola's economy and job creation. She emphasized that India values its relationship with African partners, particularly Angola, built on equality, mutual trust, and shared aspirations for progress. The President highlighted India's growing economy and its aim to become a 'developed nation' by 2047. She noted that the country's engagement with Africa has evolved under the India-Africa Forum Summit framework, with India looking forward to hosting the next summit soon. Murmu welcomed the Indian diaspora's ideas and investment proposals, acknowledging their entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, and professional excellence as key contributors to Angola's economic growth. As India and Angola strive for shared prosperity, the President urged the Indian community to seize the opportunities and drive progress between the two nations.
