External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Monday to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The visit coincides with Jaishankar's attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Council meeting, scheduled for November 17-18. During their talks, Jaishankar and Lavrov will discuss key issues in their bilateral relations, including cooperation on major international and regional matters. They will also exchange views on collaboration within the SCO, BRICS, the UN, and G20. Jaishankar's trip to Moscow is part of a broader effort to boost India-Russia ties, which have been strengthened in recent years. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India around December 5 for annual summit talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, Jaishankar will virtually inaugurate two Indian Consulates in Kazan and Ekaterinburg, two cities that are emerging as major hubs for Indian expertise and high-end technological cooperation. These initiatives are expected to further enhance India's presence in the region and foster stronger economic ties with Russia.
