Belem, Brazil - In a show of solidarity, India expressed its support for Brazil's leadership at the COP30 climate talks, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining the consensus-based nature of the process. Colombia and other members of the Independent Association of Latin America and the Caribbean grouping had objected to key decisions on the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) and the Mitigation Work Programme (MPW), forcing the session to be suspended. "We cannot ignore science and the need to transition away from fossil fuels," Colombia said. "The MWP needs space to discuss this critical issue.
