A 31-year-old software engineer and his 32-year-old wife from Delhi, who are set to celebrate their anniversary in New York, have shared their remarkable experience of obtaining US B1/B2 visas. The couple, who applied jointly on September 20, revealed the details of their consular interview on Reddit. According to their post, they arrived at the embassy on November 7 and were granted biometrics and consular appointments. Their consular appointment was scheduled for 9:50 am, and they were asked a few crucial questions during the interview. The officer inquired about their travel history, reason for visiting the US, and job details. The couple stated they were visiting New York as tourists for a short eight-day vacation, which coincided with their anniversary. They also listed their extensive travel experiences, including visits to Italy, Japan, Thailand, France, Switzerland, and Vatican City. When asked about the applicant's wife, who is currently taking a career break and studying Japanese, the officer asked about her future plans, income, and children. The wife responded that learning Japanese was challenging but she was making good progress. She also stated that she wouldn't be earning while on the trip and clarified that they might not visit their relatives in the US as scheduled. The officer then asked if they had children, to which they replied 'no.' The applicant credited their visa approval to being open and honest, showcasing a solid travel history, and highlighting his wife's Japanese studies, which indicated professional aspirations elsewhere. The couple is now preparing for their trip to New York and believes that their transparency, travel experience, and language skills played a significant role in their visa approval.
