Jen Shah Released Early from Prison, Set to Serve Rest of Sentence in Community Program
"Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" alum was freed early after serving 33 months for wire fraud convictions
Reality TV Star Jen Shah Released from Texas Prison, to Serve Balance of Sentence in Community Program
Former reality TV star Jennifer Shah has been released from a minimum-security federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas, on December 10. She was released after nearly completing three years of her six-and-a-half-year sentence for her role in a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme.
Shah's early release is the result of several sentence reductions granted for good behavior, participation in prison programs, and the start of victim reparation payments. The BOP has transferred her to a community-confinement program run by the Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office. She will serve the balance of her sentence in a halfway house or under home confinement until August 30, 2026.
The fraud case involved Shah and her business partner targeting vulnerable and elderly people nationwide with false promises of 'business-opportunity' services. The scheme resulted in recurrent charges and financial damage for the victims. Shah pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2022 and was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison. She was required to pay her victims up to $9.5 million in reparations and forfeit $6.5 million.
Shah remains legally obligated to complete her sentence under supervision and still owes substantial restitution to the victims. Her reality TV career seems to be over, with the show's network management distancing itself from her. Shah plans to spend the holidays with family and focus on rebuilding her life, according to her manager Chris Giovanni.
