New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was critically injured in a shooting in Midtown Manhattan early Sunday morning. According to police and sources, the incident occurred around 2 am on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue outside the Sei Less restaurant. A dispute turned violent, resulting in two shots being fired by the gunman, who then fled the scene in a BMW X8 SUV. Witnesses were uncooperative with police. Boyd, 5-11 defensive back for the Jets, was shot in the abdomen and lapsed in and out of consciousness before being rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition. Boyd joined the Jets earlier this year after playing for the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans. He is currently listed on the Jets' injured reserve. Authorities have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. The team was not on the field following their Thursday night loss to the New England Patriots.
