Russian President Vladimir Putin's talks with US envoy Steve Witkoff in India have been hailed as 'truly friendly' by Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov. The discussions, which took place in the Kremlin, focused on a US-backed plan to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Ushakov praised Witkoff's charm and friendliness, saying he had added a systematic approach to the talks. Witkoff had met Putin six times before, and the two leaders reportedly understand each other well without needing to explicitly state their thoughts. US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner also participated in the talks, bringing a structured approach to the negotiations. Putin described the discussions as 'very useful', and Ushakov believes Kushner's involvement will be crucial in drafting a plan for a Ukraine settlement. The US envoy is set to meet with Ukraine's senior negotiator Rustem Umerov in Florida, but it's unclear if Kushner will participate in these meetings. The talks come amid ongoing efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict, which began in 2022.
