Renowned video game developer Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, has tragically passed away in a single-car crash on Angeles Crest Highway in Southern California. The accident occurred around 12:45 pm on Sunday, with the car veering off the road, striking a concrete barrier, and catching fire. The driver, later identified as Zampella, died at the scene, while the passenger succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
Zampella, 55, was a prominent figure in the gaming industry, having served as the former CEO of Infinity Ward, the studio behind the iconic Call of Duty franchise. In 2010, he co-founded Respawn Entertainment, which went on to develop critically acclaimed titles like Titanfall, Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The company was later acquired by Electronic Arts (EA) in 2017.
A devoted family man, Zampella was married to Brigitte for 18 years and had three children together. However, the couple filed for divorce in 2015, citing irreconcilable differences.
