A dramatic scene unfolded at Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport on Friday when a pilot refused to take off, barricading himself in the cockpit of a commercial flight. The protest, staged over unpaid wages, left dozens of passengers stranded. According to a video shared on social media, the pilot expressed his frustration, stating, 'This plane isn't leaving until they pay us what they owe us.' The pilot claimed to be owed five months' salary and travel expenses by his employer. In an emotional appeal to the passengers, the pilot revealed that he had been working for the airline for nearly three years without fail, and that he was a father of three. 'I feel bad for you, because you don't deserve this,' he said. Civil aviation authorities launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred at around 3:00 pm local time. The captain was subsequently detained, while the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane, which was bound for Cancun in southeastern Mexico. The incident highlights the struggles faced by airline employees worldwide, who often go without payment for extended periods.
