Eyewitness recounts the tragic Cessna crash that claimed the lives of Greg Biffle, his family, and friends
Tragedy struck North Carolina's Statesville Airport on Thursday when a Cessna C550, owned by NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, crashed and erupted into flames. The plane, carrying seven people including Biffle, his family, and friends, was completely destroyed, resulting in the loss of all lives on board.
A joint family statement confirmed the passing of Biffle's wife, Christina Grossu, his children Ryder and Emma, his son Jack Dutton, and friends Craig Wadsworth and Dennis Dutton.
Eyewitness Michael Wingo, who witnessed the devastating incident from his front porch, recounted the harrowing moment the plane crashed. "I looked over and saw it. When it exploded, I could feel the heat from here," he told the Charlotte Observer. Wingo immediately called 911, shaken by the possibility that the plane could have landed near his home if it had been off course.
Wingo's close friend, Craig Wadsworth, was among the victims. Wadsworth was known for his kindness and generosity, and his friend described him as "one of the best." NASCAR reporter and former driver Kenny Wallace also mourned the loss of Biffle and his family, as well as his friend Wadsworth, in a heartfelt video tribute shared on Facebook.
