A 22-year-old neo-Nazi leader from the Republic of Georgia has pleaded guilty to soliciting hate crimes and plotting to poison children at Jewish schools in New York City. Michail Chkhikvishvili, also known as 'Commander Butcher,' admitted to recruiting others to commit violent attacks against Jews and racial minorities through social media channels and a manifesto called the 'Hater's Handbook.' According to federal prosecutors, Chkhikvishvili was the leader of the Maniac Murder Cult, an international extremist group that promotes violence to spark a racial and religious war. The group's ideology has inspired multiple real-life killings, including a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this year. Chkhikvishvili was arrested in July 2024 in Moldova and extradited to the United States in May. He had traveled to Brooklyn on multiple occasions, where he boasted about beating up an elderly Jewish man and instructed others to commit violent acts on behalf of the cult. During an undercover FBI operation in 2023, Chkhikvishvili recruited an agent to various schemes, including a plot to poison children at Jewish schools in Brooklyn. Prosecutors said Chkhikvishvili saw the United States as an ideal location for a mass casualty attack due to easy access to firearms. The court filing also revealed that Chkhikvishvili suggested targeting homeless people, stating that the government wouldn't care if they died. Federal prosecutors will seek a sentence of up to 18 years for Chkhikvishvili.
