US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has sounded the alarm on radical Islam, labeling it an 'imminent threat' to global security. In a recent interview with Fox News, Rubio stated that radical Islam's goal is not just to occupy a small territory, but to expand and control more territories and people. He emphasized that this ideology is 'revolutionary in its nature' and poses a significant threat to the world, particularly the United States. Rubio also highlighted that radical Islamists are willing to use terrorism, assassinations, and murders to achieve their goals of domination over different cultures and societies. The US Secretary of State pointed out that radical Islam has designs on the West, the United States, and Europe, and is prepared to use any means necessary to gain influence and control. In response to the growing threat of radical Islam, the US will restrict visas for individuals who 'knowingly direct, authorize, fund, support, or carry out' violence against Christians in Nigeria and around the world. This move aims to hold accountable those responsible for atrocities and violations of religious freedom. Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation, has been grappling with Islamist insurgent groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP for over 15 years. The ongoing insurgency has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions of displaced individuals. Rubio's warning comes as US President Donald Trump had previously threatened military action against Nigeria, citing the deliberate targeting and killing of Christians. The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, recently met with Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to discuss the 'horrific violence against Christians' in the country. The meeting highlighted the need for international cooperation to address the growing threat of radical Islam and protect vulnerable communities.
