Russia launched a devastating drone and missile attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, killing at least four people, including a four-year-old child. The assault involved over 600 drones and dozens of missiles, targeting energy facilities in western Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. A Ukrainian official described the attack as a 'clear signal' about Russia's priorities, coming at a time when negotiations aimed at ending the war were underway. The strike occurred as a Kremlin envoy prepared to travel to Florida for talks on a US-proposed plan to end the nearly four-year conflict. In a separate incident, a Russian missile strike on port infrastructure in Odesa, southern Ukraine, killed eight people and wounded 27 others. The attack came as Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed his troops were advancing on all fronts, with Ukrainian forces retreating. However, the Ukrainian government disputed this claim, stating that Russian forces were struggling to make gains. Putin emphasized that Russia's conditions for ending the war remain unchanged, citing his June 2024 speech at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also noted that there were 'certain signals' suggesting both sides could engage in dialogue. The situation in Ukraine remains precarious, with ongoing attacks and conflicting claims from both sides.
