A Charleston County teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a disturbing incident in a Walmart parking lot. Sade Delesia Nacheyle Nelson, a 37-year-old former 'Teacher of the Year,' is accused of trying to run over her baby's father with her car during a heated custody exchange on October 18. According to eyewitnesses and police records, Nelson allegedly punched the child's father and his girlfriend before attempting to ram him with her vehicle. The father claimed Nelson punched him repeatedly after he opened the passenger door to pick up their son, causing him to fall to the ground. However, security footage appears to contradict Nelson's account, showing the father leaning into her car, then walking over to the man's car and allegedly knocking Nelson to the ground. Nelson then reportedly attacked the man before bystanders intervened. Nelson has been charged with third-degree assault and battery, domestic violence of a high aggravated nature, and unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm. The Charleston County School District has confirmed that Nelson has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The incident highlights the complexities and dangers of custody disputes, and the need for a safe and peaceful resolution. As the investigation continues, the community is left to wonder how a respected teacher could allegedly engage in such behavior.
