Madrid - Spain has pledged €817 million in aid to Ukraine, with €300 million dedicated to military equipment, as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visits the country. The aid package is part of a 10-year security agreement signed in May, which aims to bolster Ukraine's air defenses against Russia's invasion. The package includes €100 million worth of U.S. military equipment under NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List initiative. Additionally, Spain will provide €200 million in credit for companies investing in Ukraine's reconstruction, focusing on energy, transport, and water management. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine's military and civilian populations, as well as its reconstruction efforts. Zelenskiy's visit comes amid a surge in Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, and he has expressed his desire to 'reactivate' the diplomatic process to end the war. Zelenskiy has been meeting with European leaders, including a trip to Greece and France, where he signed an agreement to purchase French-made Rafale warplanes. He will travel to Turkey on Wednesday to discuss potential peace talks with Russia. Spain has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine and has previously supplied the country with military equipment and participated in NATO's eastern flank defense missions.
