US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to meet at Mar-a-Lago to discuss the stalled Gaza ceasefire and regional security concerns. The meeting, expected on Monday, will focus on Israel's concerns over Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iran. Netanyahu has confirmed that the discussions will cover the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire, as well as Iran and Lebanon.
The Gaza ceasefire, brokered by Washington in October, calls for Israel to withdraw from the territory and Hamas to disarm and relinquish its governing role. However, both sides have accused each other of major breaches, and progress has stalled. Israel has indicated that it will resume military action if Hamas does not disarm peacefully.
In Lebanon, a US-backed ceasefire has been tested by Hezbollah's resistance to disarmament. Israel has carried out near-daily strikes, citing concerns over Hezbollah's rebuilding efforts. Iran, which fought a 12-day war with Israel in June, has conducted missile exercises, sparking concerns in Israel.
Netanyahu has said that he will raise Iran's activities with Trump during their meeting. The US has been pushing for transitional governance and an international security force for Gaza, but progress has been slow. The meeting between Trump and Netanyahu is expected to be crucial in determining the next steps in the Gaza ceasefire plan and regional security efforts.
