Trump Rules Out Pardon for Diddy, Says He's 'Half-Innocent' in Prison Sentence
Trump denies clemency to Sean Combs, who was sentenced in October 2025 after being convicted on two counts of transporting women for prostitution.
US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he will not grant clemency to Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who is serving a 50-month prison sentence for prostitution-related convictions. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Trump revealed that he had received a letter from Combs requesting a pardon but has since decided against it.
Combs, 56, was sentenced in October 2025 for transporting women for prostitution. Although he was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, his request for a pardon or commutation was reportedly met with hesitation at first. However, Trump has now made a definitive decision not to intervene.
Interestingly, Trump's relationship with Combs was not always positive. In previous interviews, Trump described Combs as 'hostile' during his first presidential term, which might have contributed to his decision not to pardon him. Trump also expressed his initial friendly demeanor towards Combs, saying he seemed like a 'nice guy.'
Combs had been telling other inmates at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey that he expected a presidential pardon in early 2026, but it appears that will not happen. The White House has consistently denied reports of Trump actively considering commuting Combs' sentence. As a result, Combs is expected to serve out his sentence in full.
