Washington, D.C. — In a bid to revitalize the Joint Base Andrews golf courses, President Donald Trump has enlisted the help of golfing icon Jack Nicklaus. The president, who rarely visits the base, took an aerial tour of the Courses at Andrews on Saturday and announced plans to 'fix up the base' and reinstitute the golf courses. Located just 15 miles from the White House, Joint Base Andrews is home to Air Force One and features three 18-hole golf courses, three practice putting greens, and a driving range. Trump said at least two of the courses could undergo significant renovations, with Nicklaus, a 18-time major champion and renowned course designer, leading the project. The project has raised questions about who will pay for the design services and maintenance costs. The White House and Joint Base Andrews have not responded to queries on the matter. This is the latest in a series of high-profile construction projects undertaken by Trump, including the $300 million ballroom at the White House, which is being funded by private donors. Other recent projects at the White House include the redecoration of the Oval Office and the installation of a Walk of Fame featuring portraits of past presidents. The work at Andrews may eventually be joined by another Trump project: a Paris-style arch to be erected just west of the Lincoln Memorial.
