Community groups in Canada have expressed concern over the intimidation of Hindu Canadians by pro-Khalistan elements. Two protests outside major temples in Canada passed off without incident on Sunday, but local law enforcement didn't allow protesters to come within 100 meters of the premises.

The protests featured anti-India slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India's high commissioner and consul generals in Canada. The Board of Directors of the GTA temple expressed disappointment that a group was permitted to harass a place of worship without meaningful consequence.

The Canadian chapter of the Coalition of Hindus of North America described the choice of the Brampton mandir, built by the Caribbean Hindu community, as 'particularly disturbing'. CoHNA Canada noted that buffer zones may contain movement, but it does not erase targeting.

Earlier, over 30 Hindu temples and civic organisations sent a joint letter to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, calling upon him and the federal government to ensure the safety and security of all Hindu temples and devotees.
