Iran has set a two-pronged condition for talks with the US in Islamabad: unfreeze assets and end the war in Lebanon.

US President Donald Trump has claimed Iran has agreed to kill its nuclear programme, but Iran has denied this, insisting its uranium-enrichment programme is for civilian use.

Ambiguity persists over the pre-conditions for the talks, with both sides making counter-claims.

Iran's demands come as the US and Israel continue to target Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah in Lebanon, killing hundreds of civilians.

The ceasefire has halted US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, but has done nothing to end the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, causing the biggest-ever disruption to global energy supplies.
