UAE official Anwar Gargash emphasized that any settlement between the US and Iran must guarantee access through the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil artery essential for 20% of the world's energy transport.

Gargash warned that a deal failing to rein in Iran's nuclear program and its missiles and drones would lead to a more volatile Middle East.

The UAE wants the war to end but warns against a ceasefire that leaves the root causes of instability unresolved.
