US Vice President JD Vance has sparked a backlash after drawing a comparison involving his wife while addressing Iran's nuclear demands.
Speaking in Budapest, Vance compared Iran's claimed rights around nuclear activity to a personal agreement with his wife, saying: 'My wife has the right to skydive, but she doesn't jump out of an airplane because we have an agreement that she's not going to do that.'
The analogy was used to explain the US position that Iran's stated rights matter less than its actions when it comes to nuclear capabilities.
Vance's comments sparked criticism online, with users calling the analogy 'out of touch' and 'unrelated.'
The exchange comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts following a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
